First, I love the outdoors and hunting. There is nothing like watching the woods wake up in the morning. Unfortunately this experience has been getting more and more difficult over the years. I am only 61 years old but have had Parkinson's disease for 12+ years. My balance is poor and climbing trees is no longer possible. I have used ground blinds and found that the Ghost Blind was very effective for a few years but I can longer go from a sitting to standing position without great difficulty and noise. A hunting buddy suggested that I try out saddle hunting. For the past two years I have been hunting from the prone position with my rifle on a tri-pod but this severely limits my shooting lanes.
So as a last resort, I decided to the the Covert Lite Saddle. I first tried it in my back yard by attaching it to a tree at ground level and immediately found out that it is extremely comfortable and provides me with a number of options to brace my gun and allowed me to effortlessly and quietly change my direction of fire.
I have only used it for hunting on WMA lands three times in the last week. Note
that I still do not climb the tree but attach the saddle so the my feet can use the ground as a platform by simply clearing the leaves from the base of the tree. But for the first time in two years I was able to see deer at 50+ yards in the woods simply by being off the ground. So far I have seen 2 does and 1 4pt buck that I could have easily taken but decided to pass on because it was so enjoyable to simply watch them while they had no idea I was there.
The saddle offers me the ability to sit, stand, and rotate which I must do frequently or my muscles will simply cramp and keep my in that one position. Did I mention that it is extremely comfortable too? Much more so than any hunting chair or pad that I have tried - and I have tried everything that I could afford.
The quality of the saddle and lines are top-notch and much better that I expected at any price point. Also, customer service is top-notch! Fed-ex lost my first package and they send out another before Fed-Ex's required reported wait time of two weeks for the package to be officially lost!
I highly recommend trying this saddle regardless of your condition. But if you are having any trouble at all with physical limitations, don't listen to everyone tell you that it is time to give up another of your passions due to age or disability. Never give up! Just keep looking for solutions that are safe if somewhat novel. This product is keeping me in the game for at least one more season - hopefully more but that is up to God, not me.
Thank you TrophyLine for allowing me to hunt for another year!
