I haven't really had a chance to use the Onyx since I received it. Upon first inspection I'm really liking what I've seen. I was hoping that it would be a little bigger as I'm used to the Mission. However I have the EDP as well and it was just too small for my liking on longer sits. I'm very optimistic that the new Onyx will be a solid addition to the hunting arsenal! I will give another review after I've had a chance to really use it. Stay tuned!
I saddle hunted for the first time in 2022. All of my Trophyline equipment performed well as advertised. The TL Sumpter pack purchase concerned me the most though. I can say now that it might be the best & most important equipment I purchased in 22. I was considering the Cays until right when the Sumpter first came out. I wasn't a fan of the weight but I thought I could deal with it as long as it performed well. The Sumpter pack exceeded my expectations. My edp and mini sticks pack nicely on it, I don't have a problem with noise. I had concerns about the top grab handle's longevity but it held up nicely and doesn't show any wear despite hanging on a gear strap for hours while hunting. I don't use or plan to use the meat sling feature, I simply wanted a sturdy backpack. It just carries the gear incredibly well once loaded and on your shoulders. I cinch the shoulder straps down snug and it carries great. I packed my hunting clothes in the large compartment and then only carried my weapon in my hands. I love all the compartments for organization. The Sumpter is another top quality product from Trophyline.
These sticks are rock solid when they are set up on the tree and set. I added daisy chains mid season, that made it much easier to pack up than the bulky cam buckles. Another quality product from TL. They also pack well on the Sumpter pack that I use, also from TL.
2022 was my first season saddle hunting. I had thought about purchasing the Mission platform for the extra size. After standing on them both at LAS I went with the Edp and it performed very well for me. It provides plenty of room to stand on and you can maneuver around the tree effectively. I set it just like they show in their video and it was rock solid once set.
